Hello. I'm Michael Piacenza with Advantage Pest Control in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Well, we're suffering from the same epidemic as the rest of the country, in fact the rest of the world, bed bugs. So, I'm oftentimes asked, how do I get rid of a bed bug infestation? Well, the first thing you want to do is get on it as fast as you possibly can. First thing to do is not take anything in or out of that room that isn't going straight into the washing machine. And you want to do that in plastic bags. And you want to get everything out of that room that can be washed. I mean, everything. Because they spread, so get it opened up. So, now we can treat. Take the sheets off the bed, get the mattress cover off, and then we start the treatment. Now, we're going to use some safe products. I like to use like a boric acid and a botanical pesticide from Eco Smart. I mix those up 50-50 and I dust the mattress. Get it into all those little cracks and crevices as well as you can. Now, I want to turn up the heat a little bit. There's liquid pyrethrums and dry pyrethrums. The dry pyrethrums have bee clinically shown to work better. They seem to be developing an immunity to the liquid pyrethrums. Okay. So, you want to get the dry ones and you want to get into all the cracks and crevices, especially around the mill work on the headboard, those little spots where the wood comes together. They like to get in there, along the baseboard. And I'm not talking about dusting the outside of the baseboard, underneath the baseboard, any place where there's a little crack or crevice, you want to get it inside there. And I'm telling you, this is probably not going to be a one time treatment. I wish I could give you a silver bullet that would take out your bed bugs. It just doesn't exist. You're going to have to hit it and hit it again. Good luck with it. I'm Michael Piacenza with Advantage pest control, coming to you from sunny Saint Petersburg.
