Punch is a popular beverage served at parties and gatherings. It is versatile, allowing you to customise it for both your event and your guest list. It can be alcoholic or non-alcoholic, frozen or not.

Spruce up the punch by putting blueberries in your ice cubes or making a decorative ice ring and serving it in a punch bowl.

Alcoholic Blue Punch

Alcoholic blue punch can get its colour from the alcohol you use. Begin by mixing one package of strawberry powdered drink mix with the required amount of sugar as indicated on the package instructions. Stir it into two quarts of water and add two shots each of your favourite vodka and Blue Curacao.

Another alcoholic punch idea is to transform the popular Blue Hawaiian cocktail into a punch. Mix together 1.75 litres of coconut rum, 1 litre of Blue Curacao and 2 quarts of pineapple juice. If desired, add sweet and sour mix to taste. Stir well and chill thoroughly.

Non-Alcoholic Blue Punch

For events that require a non-alcoholic punch, the blue color can be derived from powdered blue drink mixes such as ice blue raspberry lemonade or berry blue. Add one package of blue powdered drink mix to 64 oz. of light fruit juice, such as apple, white-grape or white-cranberry, and chill. Immediately before serving, add 64 oz. of lemon-lime soda and stir.

Frozen Blue Punch

Frozen blue punch can be a refreshing treat, especially at a backyard barbecue or luau-themed party. Combine one package of blue powdered drink mix together with 6 cups of water and 6 oz. of strawberry flavored gelatin in a saucepan, and bring it to a boil. Add 64 oz. of light colored fruit juice, such as apple or white-grape, and stir thoroughly. Let it cool, then freeze it overnight. Right before serving, remove the mixture from the freezer, transfer it to a punch bowl, add 64 oz. of lemon-lime soda and stir.

An alcoholic version of this punch can be made by adding your favorite liquor at the same time as the soda.

Baby Boy Shower Punch

This light blue punch is a perfect shower punch for a baby boy. Mix 64 oz. of pre-made blue fruit punch with 64 oz. of ginger-ale, club soda or light colored fruit juice, such as apple. Stir in one quart of vanilla ice cream. For a cute decorative accent, float a small plastic mama duck and a few baby ducklings on the top of the punch.
