Walking through a grassy, green field and looking down to discover a four-leaf clover can be a thrilling experience, especially if you believe in good-luck charms. After picking the clover, you may want to preserve it so you can keep it for years to come. Laminating it provides a way to protect the clover, shielding the delicate plant from harm. Design something special with the laminated clover and incorporate it into a craft project.
Preserving the Clover Before Laminating
Before laminating the clover, it's important to preserve it using proper techniques, otherwise it won't hold up between the laminating paper. After picking the four-leaf clover, bring it home and press it between two pieces of newspaper. Put a heavy book on top of the paper and wait for at least four days before checking. By this point, it should be flat and dried and you can now laminate it with a laminating machine or between two pieces of clear contact paper.
Laminated Scrapbook Page
If you are laminating the four-leaf clover in a laminating machine, put it into a standard paper sized plastic and turn the laminate into a scrapbook page. You can either laminate pictures and decorative stickers or papers along with the four leaf clover or glue them to the plastic sheet. This design idea works especially well if you took some pictures on the walk where you discovered the four-leaf clover. Punch some holes into the side of the page for easy inclusion in the scrapbook.
Contact Paper Lamination
Laminating the four-leaf clover between two sheets of contact paper provides you with the option of cutting out the laminate. Trim carefully around the edges and you'll be left with a preserved four-leaf clover that you can incorporate into a number of different design projects. You could attach the laminated clover to a magnet backing and use it on the refrigerator or place it in a small picture frame as a reminder of good luck. Paint the border of the frame with small four-leaf clovers.
Laminating to an Object
Laminate the four-leaf clover directly to an object, sealing it in and adding a decorative element. For example, you could place the four-leaf clover onto the top of a blank wooden box. Arrange other decorative elements, such as a ring of three-leaf clovers, around it. Cut a piece of clear contact paper to the exact shape of the box top and press it into place.
