How to cheer up my grumpy boyfriend

Watching your boyfriend feel down in the dumps can be tough. When your boyfriend feels grumpy, his feelings can impact your mood and put a strain on your relationship. While you want to make him feel happy, you feel helpless and don't want to do anything that will upset him even more. Whether he is grumpy due to job stress or a fight with a family member, you can do certain things to put a smile on his face again.

  1. Ask him what is troubling him. Before you can cheer him up, it will help to know why he feels grumpy. Remind him that you are always there for him through the good times and the bad. Not only will he feel better to know that you care about how he feels, you can help him take the proper steps to solve his problem. When he's telling you what he's feeling, don't rush in to give him advice. Sometimes, just talking about the problem can help him feel better.

  2. Cook him one of his favourite meals. A delicious lasagne or tuna casserole can fill his stomach and put a smile on his face, if he enjoys those sorts of meals. If cooking is not one of your specialities, take him to his favourite restaurant to get his mind off of his troubles.

  3. Give him a small gift. It does not have to be anything fancy, but it should have thought behind it. If he enjoys sweets, buy his favourite candies and put them in a small basket for him. If he enjoys dressing up, buy him a nice tie to add to his wardrobe.

  4. Offer him a massage. When someone feels grumpy, a relaxing head or back massage can make him feel better in no time. A massage is particularly helpful if your boyfriend is dealing with stress and anxiety. Your physical touch can also show him that you care about his well-being and want him to feel better immediately.

  5. Spend a night alone with your boyfriend and have a movie marathon. Rent some of his favourite movies, and others that neither of you have seen. Whether you watch comedies or action flicks, movies can make him forget about his problems. For an extra treat, buy some popcorn and soda to enjoy during the marathon.
