How to Make a Slush Puppie

Updated April 17, 2017

Slush Puppy is a brand of crushed-ice beverage. Made in special machines, they are commonly found in gas stations and corner stores. Smaller machines can be purchased for home use, but variations of the branded drink can be made at home with the right ingredients and a few household items. These refreshing, non-alcoholic drinks are perfect for a barbecue or children's party.

  1. Fill a tall glass with crushed ice.

  2. Add the juice of 1 whole lemon, 14.8ml. of grenadine and 2 to 3 tsp of raspberry syrup to the glass. Top up with soda water.

  3. Garnish with a twist of lemon peel and a maraschino cherry.

  4. Select a beverage to be the base of your slush puppy. Non-sparkling drinks work best, such as powdered lemonade or sweetened iced tea.

  5. Pour your chosen beverage into an ice-cube tray, and freeze.

  6. Empty your ice cubes into a blender. Blend until finely crushed, pour into a tall glass and enjoy.
