How to Save Data to a Western Digital My Passport External Drive

Updated April 17, 2017

Western Digital's line of My Passport external hard drives make it possible for users to move large amounts of data from place to place more easily. 1. Connect the external hard drive to an available USB port on your computer.

  2. Open a Web browser, then navigate to the site where the file you want to download is located.

  3. Right-click the file, then select "Save file as."

  4. Click "Computer," then double-click the drive labelled "Passport." The file will be downloaded to the external hard drive. When the file has saved to the drive, a small box will appear in the right corner of the screen.
