When opening a PDF document in PaperPort 11, you may find that the PDF displays a "DocuCom PDF Trial" watermark. In order to resolve this issue, you must edit the Windows registry and reinstall Paperport.

Close PaperPort.

Click "Start," type "regedit," and press "Enter."

Click the "+" sign next to the following items in the left pane of the Registry Editor:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Software

Right-click the "ScanSoft" key and select "Permissions."

  • Right-click the "ScanSoft" key and select "Permissions."

Check the boxes labelled "FULL CONTROL" and "READ" for the following entries:

Click the "+" sign next to the following items in the left pane of the Registry Editor:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER

Software

Right-click the "ScanSoft" key and select "Permissions."

Check the boxes labelled "FULL CONTROL" and "READ" for the following entries:

Close the Registry Editor.

Click "Start," type "programs and features" and press "Enter."

Select PaperPort from the list of installed options and click the "Uninstall" button. Follow the prompts to finish uninstalling the software.

  • Select PaperPort from the list of installed options and click the "Uninstall" button.

Download the PaperPort removal tool and save the file to your desktop.

Right-click the file and choose "Extract here" to extract the files. A new folder named "Remover" will appear on your desktop.

Open the "Remover" folder and double-click "Remover.exe."

Click "Yes" to confirm that you want to remove PaperPort.

Click "Start" and select "Computer."

Double-click "Local Disk C:" and open the "Program Files" folder.

  • Download the PaperPort removal tool and save the file to your desktop.
  • Double-click "Local Disk C:" and open the "Program Files" folder.

Open the "ScanSoft" folder and delete the "PaperPort" folder.

Click "Start," type "devices and printers," and press "Enter."

Right-click the PaperPort printer, choose "Delete," and click "Yes" to remove the printer.

Restart the computer.

Insert your PaperPort installation disc and follow the prompts to reinstall the software.
