How to create your own invoices for free

Small business can create important documents for free on their own computer, including invoices. These are available as templates in computer software and online template galleries. Once the invoice template is located, you can customise the template with your business contact information. It can be further customised with the customer's contact information and invoice details. When using templates, be sure to save the changes so the invoice can be edited or printed at a later time.

  1. Click the "File" tab and select "New." Type "Invoices" in the search box. Review the matching invoice templates. Click the invoice image and the right "Download" button. An invoice based on the template opens.

  2. Highlight the default contact information section. Type your business details including business name, address, phone number and e-mail. Highlight the customer's contact information. Type the details including name, address, e-mail and phone number.

  3. Click in the available line items on the invoice. Type the quantity, product description and price of the item. Save the changes by clicking the "Save" icon the Quick Access Toolbar.

  4. Access the Google Documents website. Type "Invoices" in the search box. Change the drop-down list to "Public Templates." Review the matching invoice templates. Download the template by clicking the "Use This Template" button.

  6. Click in the available line items on the invoice. Type the quantity, product description and price of the item. Save the changes by clicking the "Save" icon the main toolbar.

  7. Access the OpenOffice website. Type "Invoices" in the search box. Review the matching invoice templates. Download the template by clicking the "Use This" button.
