How to Find Registered Business Names

Updated February 21, 2017

A registered business name is a business name used by a corporation, limited liability company (LLC) and certain types of partnerships that are registered with the secretary of state in the state where the business is organised. Individual secretary of state offices offer online search tools that you can use to find registered business names in their states. These tools display detailed information about the registered business, including the registered owners and the registered address of the business.

  4. Click on the name of the business from the list of businesses that match your search query for detailed information about the registered business.
