How to Replace a Ford Radio RDS

Updated July 20, 2017

All Ford models' radios are located at the centre console and are fairly easy to remove. The compact and popular Ford Focus comes equipped with a standard RDS radio you can also remove easily. When the radio breaks, you must remove and replace it with the use of DIN-style release keys. Look for these release keys, made for use on all newer Ford models, at most auto parts shops.

  2. Slide the DIN-style release keys from left to right to unlock the radio from the Ford's locking tags.

  3. Slide the radio from the Ford's centre console.

  4. Take out and remove the electric connectors located at the radio's rear.

  5. Repeat the steps in reverse to install the new radio on your Ford Focus.
