How to Reset a Samsung TV to Factory Defaults

Updated April 17, 2017

There's no point in having so many customisable options on your Samsung TV if you are too afraid to use them. Samsung has factory default reset options built-in so you can experiment with your TV's settings with the freedom of knowing you can always fix whatever settings you change on your Samsung TV. Samsung TVs have both picture reset options and sound reset options, so feel free to play around with both settings.

  1. Turn on your TV and press the "Menu" button from the remote control; the main menu will appear. Press "Enter" on the remote to select picture. Press "Enter" again to select the "Mode;" a drop down menu will appear.

  2. Use the up and down arrow buttons to select a picture mode, then press "Enter." Use the arrows to navigate to "Picture Reset," then press "Enter." On some Samsung model TVs, there is no reset option, so select "More" from the menu and a new menu will appear where you will find the "Reset" option.

  3. Press the "Menu" button to exit. The picture may disappear for a moment then reappear. This is normal when the restart process has taken effect.

  4. Press the "Menu" button on your remote control to prompt the main menu to appear. Scroll through the main menu using the arrow buttons to select the "Sound" option by pressing "Enter" on the remote control.

  5. Use the arrow buttons to select "Mode" and press enter. Use the arrow buttons on the remote to scroll through and select a sound mode to reset, then press "Enter."

  6. Scroll through the options on the menu to select "Reset," if you cannot find "Reset," select the "More" option, press "Enter" and look on the menu that appears for the "Reset" option, then press "Enter."
