How to transfer music to a portable MP3 player

If you have a portable MP3 player, you might like to transfer your MP3 music files from your computer to the MP3 player. Different music players transfer MP3 files in different ways. You can use one of the following two simple techniques to transfer your MP3 files to any MP3 player.

  1. Connect your portable MP3 player to your computer with the cable provided with the MP3 player. If your MP3 player connects to your computer wirelessly, verify the computer can communicate with the MP3 player.

  2. Start you MP3 player's music management software application. If you have not installed the application, follow the instructions included with the music player to install the application, then start it.

  3. Add MP3 files on your computer to the music application's library. Follow the application's documentation if you need help.

  4. Click the "Sync" button or menu option in the application to transfer the MP3 files in the music application's library to your MP3 player. Your music application may use "Copy," or another term, for transferring MP3 files. The application displays a message when the files have finished transferring to the MP3 player.

  5. Connect your portable MP3 player to your computer with the cable provided with the MP3 player. If your MP3 player connects to your computer wirelessly, verify the computer can communicate with the MP3 player.

  6. Open a "My Computer" window and browse to the folder containing your MP3 files.

  7. Open another "My Computer" window. Double-click the Hard Disk Drive icon or Removable Storage icon which corresponds to your MP3 player to open the MP3 player's folder.

  8. Select one or more MP3 files from the first window. Click the right mouse button on the file or files and click "Copy" in the file or files menu.

  9. Click the right mouse button in the MP3 player folder window and click "Paste." The Copy progress indicator shows the copy process is complete.
