Hewlett-Packard (HP) is a global leader in designing, developing and manufacturing information technology products, including both software and hardware. Network devices, desktop computers and laptop computers are the major hardware devices in which HP specialises. Most HP laptops come equipped with a touchpad that allows users to control and operate their computer in the same way as using a mouse. The Synaptics Touchpad software controls the settings of the touchpad. Settings can be changed and modified based on the user's needs.
Place your mouse cursor anywhere on the desktop. Right-click and select "Personalize" and click "Mouse Pointers." The Mouse Properties window will appear.
Verify that there is a "Device Settings" tab in the Mouse Properties window. If the tab is not present, visit the HP Software and Drivers link found under the Resources section of this article and download and install the Synaptics Touchpad driver.
Click on the "Device Settings" tab in the Mouse Properties window.
Select "Synaptics Touchpad" under Devices and click "Settings."
Select the desired setting you would like to modify under "Select an Item" in the Properties for Synaptics Clickpad. Settings that can be changed include scrolling, pointing, buttons, tapping and application gestures.
Click "Apply" and then "OK" to make the desired changes.
