How Can I Make a Picture Locket Sized?

One of the many uses for photos is to allow us to feel closer to loved ones. These images can be of a spouse or child, or of a relative long gone. In addition to photos for our walls, desks and albums, many people like to have a photo of a loved one on a locket. If you would like to place a favourite photo in a locket, you will have to resize it to fit the locket. There are a number of graphics program you can use for this purpose.

  1. Load the image you want to put in your locket onto your computer, either by transferring a digital version or by scanning in a printed copy.

  2. Open Photoshop. Select "File" from the menu and choose "Open." In the dialogue that appears, locate the image you loaded and open it.

  3. Select "Image" from the menu and choose "Image Size." Change the increments to "Inches" and make the width and height of the document the same as the locket. Click "OK."

  4. Print out the image on photo paper. Trace the outline of the locket on the paper and cut away the part you don't need. Place the image in the locket.

  6. Open Photoshop Elements. Click "Edit." Select "File" from the menu and choose "Open." In the dialogue that appears, locate the image you loaded and open it.

  7. Select "Image" from the menu and choose "Resize." From the options, choose "Image Size." Change the increments to "Inches" and make the width and height of the document the same as the locket. Click "OK."

  8. Print out the image on photo paper. Trace the outline of the locket on the paper and cut away the part you don't need. Place the image in the locket.

  9. Load the image you want to put in your locket onto your computer, either by transferring a digital version or by scanning in a printed copy.

  10. Open GIMP. Select "File" from the menu and choose "Open." In the dialogue that appears, locate the image you loaded and open it.

  11. Select "Image" from the menu and choose "Scale Image." Change the increments to "Inches" and make the width and height of the document the same as the locket. Click "OK."

  12. Print out the image on photo paper. Now trace the outline of the locket on the paper and cut away the part you don't need. Place the image in the locket.
