What are the benefits of cider vinegar & honey?
Cider vinegar and honey mixed with water is a very well-known home remedy used to treat various ailments. It's highly touted by Dr. D.C. Jarvis, M.D., in two of his books, "Folk Medicine" and "Arthritis and Folk Medicine", and is still extensively used by naturopathic physicians and alternative-health practitioners.
Because of its natural, abundant supply of potassium, magnesium, copper, iron, pectin, silicon, natural malic acid and natural tartaric acid, organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar is a natural blood purifier, oxidiser and detoxifier. It prevents excess thickening of the blood, which can result in high blood pressure, and dissolves excess fat, mucous and phlegm throughout the body. It also contains Vitamins A, B1, B2, C, E and bioflavonoids. Organic honey is used for its natural bactericidal and antibiotic properties; it also contains antioxidants.
Dr. D.C. Jarvis published his first edition of "Folk Medicine" in 1958, and it's still in print. He believed that adding honey to apple cider vinegar (he called it "honegar") boosts the natural-healing powers and properties of both substances. Also, mixing honey in the vinegar water makes it more drinkable.
Dissolve 1 tbsp of organic, unfiltered apple-cider vinegar (Bragg is recommended) and 1 tbsp of organic, raw honey in a tall glass of purified, filtered or spring water, either chilled or at room temperature. Take one glass in the morning and one glass before you go to bed at night. Add a splash of organic garlic juice for an additional antioxidant boost.
Take the tonic to relieve arthritis, colitis, hay fever symptoms, migraines, high-blood pressure, coughs (keep it by your bedside whenever a coughing fit hits), dizziness, eczema (caused by potassium deficiency), and sore, tired eyes (do not use it in your eyes). It also relieves indigestion, acid reflux and heartburn when taken with meals or immediately afterward.
Other Preparations and Uses
Keep this preparation by your bedside if you have trouble falling asleep at night: Dissolve 1 tbsp of organic apple-cider vinegar into 1 cup of organic, raw honey. Take 1 to 2 tbsps. before going to bed. This same preparation can also be used to add shine and lustre to your hair. Mix it into your hair, tie it up and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse it out thoroughly and shampoo as usual.
The preparations only work with apple cider vinegar. Never substitute white vinegar or any other type of vinegar, not even organic brands.
Use only organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar and organic, raw honey in these preparations. The essential minerals, enzymes and antioxidants that are very important in dissolving bacteria and eliminating toxins are all destroyed in commercial pasteurisation and distillation processes.
