Homemade diaper holder

Diaper stackers or holders can be pricey when bought at a store. Diaper stackers and holders hold diapers so the box of diapers does not have to sit out in the baby's room. They come in colourful fabrics or cute baskets, and they are inexpensive and easy to make. Make one for yourself or for gifts to give to friends.

Diaper Basket

If you don't know how to sew, or don't have time to, don't worry. A basket to hold diapers in is easy and cute. Find a large basket without a lid. It should be large enough that you don't have to refill it every day. Buy a half yard of fabric that matches the decor in the baby's room. Trim the edges so the fabric fits in the basket with a little bit hanging over the edge. Hot glue the edges down so they will not come loose. Put a few drops of glue in the bottom of the basket to hold that part down. Wrap fabric around the handle or hot glue bows onto the basket for further decoration.

Diaper Stacker

A diaper stacker hangs on the closet door or from a handle on a dresser. This one can hold roughly 36 diapers. All you need is some fabric, cardboard and a child-size hanger. Cut out the pattern on the website and sew the pieces together. Insert a hanger at the top and cardboard at the bottom and decorate. Add ribbons and lace ruffles for girls or more boyish ribbons for a boy. A diaper stacker works well if you have hanging space, and you only have to refill the basket every few days.

Small holders

If you only need a holder for wipes and a few diapers, make one of rectangular placemats. Purchase a placemat in a pattern that you like. Place your wipes container on it to see how wide you need it, then fold up the bottom third. Sew up the sides, creating a pocket. Place two pieces of hook and loop fastener near the top and sew them down. Fold down the bottom third and sew on the opposite sides of the hook and loop fastener in line with the first pieces. The diaper holder should hold a small case of wipes as well as two or three diapers. Decorate with ribbon or tie a large bow around it for decoration.
