Fossil Watches Operating Instructions

Written by rob wagner | 13/05/2017

Fossil Inc. has been producing men's and ladies' watches since 1984. Its original line featured reproductions of vintage designs, but the watchmaker has since expanded to carry a full line of contemporary-looking analogue, digital, chronograph, analogue/digital and automatic watches in dress and sports styling. Operating instructions are included with each newly purchased watch.

Fossil Date Automatic

Rotate the crown clockwise about 20 revolutions or shake it to start the Fossil watch. To set the time, pull the crown to the first position and rotate until the time is set. Pulling the crown all the way out will automatically set the date. Fossil automatics should be worn a minimum of every 48 hours to continuously keep running, according to Fossil.

Day/Date Fossils

To set the date on Fossil day/date automatic watches, press the button on the case edge at 5 o'clock. Each press of the button will change the date by increments. To change the weekday on the subdial, press the button on the case edge at 7 o'clock by single increments until the day is reached. Never set the day and date between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. because it may damage the movement.

Analogue/Digital Fossils

Change the 12- or 24-hour format on an analogue/digital Fossil watch by pushing the button on the case edge at 2 o'clock. Press the button at 4 o'clock to view the digital date. To set the date, press the 2 o'clock button. The year will start flashing. Push the button at 4 o'clock until the year, month, date and exact time are set. To set the alarm on the analogue/digital Fossil watch, push the 4 o'clock button to start the alarm mode, then the 2 o'clock button to turn on or off the chime. When the 2 o'clock button is pressed the hour begins to flash. Select the hour and minute with the 2 o'clock button and then press the 4 o'clock button to adjust each digit.

Moon Phase Fossil

The weekday, hour and minutes of the moon phase Fossil can be set by pulling the crown all the way out and rotating it clockwise until the correct day and time is set. Push the crown back flush with the case, and then pull it out to the first position to set the date hand by rotating the crown counterclockwise until the date is set. Changing the date between 9 p.m. and midnight could affect the watch's accuracy. Set the month by pushing the button on the case edge at 1 o'clock. If you are setting the month between the 26th and 31st, move the date hand to another date before the 26th, change the month setting to the correct month, then return the date hand to the proper date. This will synchronise the month and date to allow the short 30-day month to change automatically to the correct month.
