Vanilla frosting sandwiched between chocolate cookies, Oreo cookies are often served only with a glass of milk, but they can be used in recipes. Cream cheese and Oreo cookies pair together in several desserts. More recipes can be found in the Resources.
Dirt cake or pie
Crumbled Oreo cookies with gummy worms and gummy bugs resembles a dirt garden, but is entirely edible. Serving it in a flower pot is optional. To make it, crush a package of Oreo cookies in a food processor. Beat together 227gr. cream cheese, one stick of butter and 1 cup icing sugar. In another bowl, beat 3 cup milk with two small packages of instant vanilla pudding. Fold into the pudding 340gr. frozen whipped topping, thawed. Into this pudding mixture fold in the cream cheese mixture. Put one-third of the crushed cookies into the bottom of a serving dish. Layer one-third of the cream cheese mixture on top. Continue to alternate layers of cookies with layers of the pudding, ending with a top covering of crushed cookies. Scatter gummy worms on the top layer of cookies, pushing them halfway in so they resemble worms in dirt. Chill thoroughly before serving.
Oreo cookie cheese cake
Remove six Oreo cookies from a package for garnish, if desired. Place half of the package of cookies into a food processor and pulse to crush into crumbs. Combine this with 1/4 cup melted butter, and press the mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a springform pan. Break or chop the other half of the package of cookie into large pieces. Beat together 454gr. cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, three whole eggs, 454gr. sour cream and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Stir the large pieces of Oreo cookies into the batter, and pour over the prepared crust. Bake at 177 degrees Cor 50 to 60 minutes, and remove to the counter for 1 hour before moving into the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or until completely cooled.
Oreo balls or truffles
Oreo cookies can be made into truffles with cream cheese and chocolate or almond bark. Crush one package of Oreo cookies in a food processor to fine crumbs. Mix crumbs with 227gr. cream cheese. Shape mixture into 1-inch round balls. Place on waxed paper and chill in the freezer. Melt one package of almond (white chocolate) or dark chocolate bark by heating it on high in the microwave for 3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds. Dip chilled Oreo balls into the melted chocolate to cover. Place on waxed paper and return to freezer until the chocolate has hardened. These can also be rolled in candy sprinkles or chopped nuts before freezing.
