Remove six Oreo cookies from a package for garnish, if desired. Place half of the package of cookies into a food processor and pulse to crush into crumbs. Combine this with 1/4 cup melted butter, and press the mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a springform pan. Break or chop the other half of the package of cookie into large pieces. Beat together 454gr. cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, three whole eggs, 454gr. sour cream and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Stir the large pieces of Oreo cookies into the batter, and pour over the prepared crust. Bake at 177 degrees C for 50 to 60 minutes, and remove to the counter for 1 hour before moving into the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or until completely cooled.
Oreo balls or truffles
Oreo cookies can be made into truffles with cream cheese and chocolate or almond bark. Crush one package of Oreo cookies in a food processor to fine crumbs. Mix crumbs with 227gr. cream cheese. Shape mixture into 1-inch round balls. Place on waxed paper and chill in the freezer. Melt one package of almond (white chocolate) or dark chocolate bark by heating it on high in the microwave for 3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds. Dip chilled Oreo balls into the melted chocolate to cover. Place on waxed paper and return to freezer until the chocolate has hardened. These can also be rolled in candy sprinkles or chopped nuts before freezing.
