Breville Rice Cooker instructions

Rice is a delicious addition to any meal. Whether you are aiming to make Chinese, Indian or another genre of food, rice can complement your meal. The Breville Rice Cooker can assist you in making all the rice you need. A small kitchen appliance, the Breville Rice Cooker is easy to use, clean and store.

Cook rice

Wash out the removable cooking bowl, steaming tray and glass lid of the Rice Cooker in hot soapy water. Remove all labels on the outside of the bowl, tray and lids. Take out the Rice Duo 6 cup and fill it with rice. If you are cooking rice for four people you will want to fill the Rice Duo Cup 6 with two cups of uncooked rice. This will yield 4 cups of cooked rice. Wash the measured-out rice in cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch. Place the removable cooking bowl in the stainless steel housing of the Breville Rice Cooker so it sits flat. Add the uncooked rice and 250 ml (1 cup) of water for every 227 g (1 cup) of rice you want to cook. Place the glass lid on top of the bowl and plug the cooker into an outlet. Look for the amber power light. Press the selector control. A red light will come on to let you know the rice is cooking. A bell will ding when the rice has completed cooking. Remove lid and turn the rice over using a fork or spoon. Let it stand for 10-15 minutes before serving.

Creating different rice dishes

The Breville Rice Cooker can also be used to create more elaborate rice dishes. Use meat stock instead of water for a meat and rice dish. To create a sweet rice dish, you can also substitute half of the water needed with apple juice, orange juice or pineapple juice. For saffron rice add 1/4 tsp of saffron powder or 2 saffron threads to every 500 ml (2 cups) of water you use.

Steam dishes

The Rice Cooker can also be used to steam dishes. Measure 750 ml (3 cups) of water or stock into the removable cooking bowl. Place the food you would like to steam onto the steaming trays and insert into the cooking bowl. Place the steaming tray and cooking bowl into the steel housing of the Rice Cooker. Cover with the glass lid. Plug the Rice Cooker into a power outlet. Press the selector control to start the steaming process. A red light will come on while the steaming is taking place. A bell will go off when the steaming is complete.
