Homemade massage oil recipe

Creating your own massage oil is relatively easy. It's a wonderful opportunity to learn more about essential oils. Every massage oil contains several essential oils with very specific uses. The three common massage oil types include relaxation, energy and sensuality. Knowing the kind of massage oil you want will determine the ingredients you will use to make your own homemade massage oil recipe.

The Basics

Here are the things you will need to create your homemade massage oil recipe:

Brown or dark blue glass bottles with caps (oils placed in plastic or exposed to light become contaminated) Eye dropper Teaspoon measurements Essential oils Carrier oils (sweet almond, grapeseed, canola, safflower, sunflower, sesame, wheat germ, olive, jojoba, grapeseed, safflower and peanut oil)

YgoY recommends using eight drops of essential oil and 6 tsp of carrier oil when you're creating your own homemade massage oil.

Creating your own massage oil involves blending essential oils and carrier oils. Essential oils come from flowers and plants and have a pleasant scent. Be careful when using essential oils; they're powerful. Carrier oils are added to essential oils to dilute the oils for use on the skin. Carrier oils also make it easier to apply massage oil to the skin.

Relaxation Oil Recipe

Essential oils to use for a relaxing massage oil include lavender, jasmine, chamomile, rosewood and sandalwood. The following is a relaxing massage oil recipe from Glenbrook Farms:

4 tbsp of carrier oil of choice 10 drops of lavender essential oil 10 drops of rosemary essential oil 10 drops of begamont essential oil

Energy Oil Recipe

For a massage to energise the mind and body, use the following essential oils: balsa fir, pine needle, wintergreen, peppermint, lemon, lime, orange, bergamot and tangerine. This recipe is titled "Fall Harvest by Pioneer Thinking."

12 tsp grapeseed oil 6 drops of bergamot essential oil 2 drops cardamom essential oil 2 drops jasmine essential oil 1 drop orange blossom essential oil
