- More often than not, wooden letters are used to spell out a child's name on the wall. It looks cute over a crib and even more adorable when hung with ribbons or tulle. However, names aren't the only thing you can use those letters for. Also try spelling out a word or phrase on the wall. You could do a nursery rhyme themed room and spell out "And the cow jumped over the moon" on the wall. Or you could spell out a sentiment to your baby such as "Love you forever." Think outside the box when choosing words for the wall. It doesn't only have to be a name. Make sure to paint the letters and decorate them to match the nursery decor.
- If you're short on cash and don't have the money to buy a lot of the pricey wooden letters, just buy one that is your baby's first initial. You can paint it to match the nursery with stripes, polka dots or another design that you love and then mount it in a shadow box with some other items. For example, if you have a boy's room with a car theme, you could place the initial in the shadow box with some Matchbox cars. For a girl's room, do a ballerina one with a small figurine. The initial can then be hung on the wall and match the decor perfectly.
- If you still prefer to have your child's name somewhere in the room but don't want to spell it on the wall, consider looking at garage sales and estate sales for some old wooden blocks. These vintage wooden blocks are a darling addition to a nursery, and you can use them to spell out your baby's name on a dresser or shelf. If you can't find older blocks, purchase some wooden letter blocks from a craft store and then paint and distress them to look old. It is a different kind of wooden letter that adds a note of class to a baby nursery.
