    Benefits

  1. The primary purpose of a juice fast is to help the body remove built-up dietary or environmental toxins in a short period of time. In some cases, people who wish to go on a water fast will first do a juice fast to partially remove many of the toxins in the body. Toxins that are removed during a juice diet cleanse include built-up chemicals, body fat, unhealthy fatty acids and impacted mucus in the bowels. Fruit juice also boosts the immune system. Fruit and vegetable juices contain
vitamins, minerals, enzymes and antioxidants. Digestion of fruit juices doesn't use as many calories as digestion of solid food, and thus allows the body's energy to be focused on expelling waste and toxins.
  2. Techniques

  3. The proper technique for juice fasting will depend on your health, body and goals. Some people drink nothing but lemon or lime juice during the fast, others will make fruit juice smoothies and juice blends to ensure more balanced nutrition than a single juice fast. Juice fasts range in length from five to 10 days, to over 30 days in an extreme juice fast. Some people will add a slice of avocado or banana during the fast to ease hunger pangs.
