There are several websites where you can legally download full-length movies for free. However, these sites only have old movies in the public domain, international and independent films available for download. If you want to download free movies that were made recently, you must subscribe to a legal peer to peer (P2P) site that allows unlimited movie downloads.

Download Completely Free Movies

The Internet Archives has many movies available for download. You can also watch the movies in streaming video, if you like. The movies are typically in MPEG2, MPEG4 and Ogg Video format. The movies are organised into separate collections, which you can browse. You can also search on the specific title of a movie within the "Moving Images" category.

Another place to download free movies is the Entertainment Magazine. They are organised in categories such as Action Adventure, Cartoons, Comedy, Crime and Mystery, Drama, Family and Children's Movies, Horror and Sci-Fi and International Films. The movies are available in MPEG1 and MPEG2 format, as well as in streaming video for dial-up or broadband Internet connections.

PublicDomainFlicks.com has many movies that were produced between the 1930s and the 1950s. You can download the movies in MPEG2, MPEG4 and Ogg Video format. You can also watch them as streaming video in your browser window. The movies are not organised by category, but you can sort them by title or by year.

If you plan to download movies from these free sites, especially if you plan to download the larger MPEG4 files, you should get a download manager such as Free Download Manager that supports resuming interrupted downloads. After installing the download manager software, right-click the movie link and click "Save Target As."

Download Free Movies With Subscription

The Movie Downloads website has movies in several different formats, such as DVD, Windows Media Video, MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4 and AVI. You can download unlimited movies on the site with no download fees. They have subscription plans that allow you to pay monthly or once every two or three years. The Movie Downloads website provides free software to download the movies and burn them to CD or DVD. You can play the movies you have downloaded from the site on any DVD player.

Movies Capital is another site that provides unlimited movie downloads with a subscription. They offer an unlimited movie downloads membership that lasts for two years. The membership allows you to download DVD-quality movies in AVI format with no download limits or fees. At the end of the subscription period, you may renew your membership for a lower fee. All of the movies can be played on a stand-alone DVD player.

Both The Movie Downloads and Movies Capital offer fast movie downloads and technical support for their services. However, Movies Capital doesn't offer a download manager to subscribers, so consider using a free download manager when using that service.
