Ayurvedic massage starts with a healing two-handed touch between the shoulder blades and progresses to small circular motions, followed by the hands moving in "infinity" loops down the spine. See how it works in this free video on massage techniques.
Hello, my name is Zdenka Sutton and today, I'm going to show you how to give Ayurvedic massage. We're going to start on the kind side, placing both hands gently between the shoulder blades. And transferring your hear energy. This is a very healing, powerful touch, that's so rare these days. Take a few moments here. After that, we're going to move fast in friction over the shoulders, moving hands up and down. Which may create, will create redness, even a butterfly shaped redness in the shoulders, and it relieves the tight areas. Alright, you're pretty good, no redness. And then, we're going to take and apply good oil, Ayurveda is famous to use oil. And we're going to start in circular motion over the heart Chakra, doing it clockwise, several times. Then, we move into the Solar Plexus, above the naval, in the mid-back area, the center of will power. And then, the Sacrum, or the Root Chakra, applying the lotion here, making nice circles. Then, we do 12 circles with the ring finger, on the sacrum in a clockwise direction. And these are small circles, doing 12 clockwise and then, 12 counter clockwise. From here, we start to do it, the infinity loop shape. And we start small and then, we go big, and we go and move up the back in infinity shape. Moving all the way towards the shoulders, as the flow of energy goes, starting again at the bottom. This massage is fairly light, guiding and relaxing, showing you the back massage. Ayurveda has many styles of massages. Next one, I'm going to show you butterfly technique, putting both hands, crossing the thumbs. And pressing along the spine, always starting at in the neck and going down the spine. And work with your client's sensitivity and the pressure. So, going down, you can do this a few times, and glide. And then, we start with gentle vibrations along the side of the spine. With one hand and the other hand. And we go with the side of the hand, along, next to the spine, vibrating. And my name is Zdenka Sutton, and I just showed you how to give Ayurvedic massage.
