Hi, I'm Hilary Talbott, acupuncture physician and clinical herbalist. Today, we'll be showing you some acupressure points to alleviate snoring. Now, obesity is actually the number one cause behind snoring. So oftentimes, regulating your diet and getting ample exercise, and dropping about 15 percent of your body mass index will alleviate snoring altogether. But in the meantime, I'm going to show you a couple local points on the face that'll help to open up the sinus cavities and maybe prevent a little bit of snoring, or make it a little less intense for your loved one. So, if you've ever seen the breathe right strips, they come across the nose, and the hope is they open up the muscles and sinus cavities of the face. So, I'm just going to do a little bit of light stretching right here to open up the nasal passages. And this is something that can be done while you're laying in bed before you fall asleep. And then yin tong, the extra point located between the eyebrows with an upward motion will also help to alleviate snoring. If you snore continuously throughout the night, or your loved one tells you that they hear you waking, trying to catch your own breath, this can be a serious sign of what's called sleep apnea. If this is ongoing for some time, I encourage you to seek out your local sleep center and take a sleep study to make sure that your brain is not being deprived of precious oxygen. I'm Hilary Talbott, and that was acupressure for snoring.
