Hi, I'm Chief Joe Bruni. There are different classes of fire. Class A, Normal combustible's like wood, paper and cloth. Class B, flammable liquids. Class C, energized electrical equipment and Class D, burning metals. One of the best fire extinguisher's on the market for the residential dwelling or home use is what's known as the ABC, or multipurpose fire extinguisher. This type of fire extinguisher has a type of dry powder or dry chemical inside of it and a pressurized cylinder to discharge that dry chemical. It is multipurpose because it can be used on the first three classes of fire, A,B and C. Ordinary combustibles, flammable liquids, such as grease fire in the kitchen or energized electrical equipment like a fan motor that happen to short out, overheat or catch fire. This is the most popular type of fire extinguisher to be used in the home. It's the multipurpose ABC-type fire extinguisher. Normally, they are compact and small in size, and this size can handle most small grease fires or kitchen fires, as well as small, ordinary combustibles like class A fires in a trash can, or small class A fires in the garage. The multipurpose fire extinguisher is the best type of fire extinguisher for multi-uses and multi-classes of fire in the home. I'm Joe Bruni. Stay safe.
