Door hinges may periodically need to be changed to ensure the efficiency of the doors in your home. Change your own door hinges with help from a remodeling expert in this free video clip.
Hi, my name is Andrew Dryden, and I am going to show you how to change door hinges. Things you'll need: an electric drill, assorted bits, hinges and a hammer. First, remove the hinge pins by using a screwdriver to tap up on the bottom edge of the head of each pin. Remove the pins once they pop loose. Then lift the door free by separating the two halves of the hinge assembly. Remove the two halves of one set of hinges from the door edge and the door jam by taking out their mounting screws. Use the provided mounting screws to put each hinge half in it's proper place. Repeat this process with each set of hinges. And finally set the door back in place on the hinges and slide the pins into place. A tap with a hammer is sometimes needed to completely seat them in place. And that's how to change door hinges.
