Hi, I'm Melody Schoenfeld with Flawless Fitness, and the question I've been posed is how to properly lift dumbbells. This is completely depending on the exercise that you're doing. So, when you asked me how to properly lift dumbbells, I'm going to tell you how to properly lift dumbbell off the floor. If you lift anything heavy off the floor, you need to do it this way. You may think this isn't important, it is important and I've seen people throw their backs out all the time. I'm actually Massage Therapist as well as a Personal Trainer, I can't even begin to tell you how many people I get in my studio who throw their backs out just because they lift something wrong off the floor. So, this is how you properly lift a dumbbell or any heavy object off the floor. I actually make people do push-ups when they don't lift things help, when they don't lift things properly off the floor. So, push-ups for you if you don't do it like this. Nice straight back, bend your knees, pick up your dumbbell and do the same thing on the way back down. No matter how tired you are, don't do this one. You are going to throw out your back eventually and then you say, "Why didn't I listen to Melody?" Well, that's the question many of us ask ourselves. This is Melody, and this is how to properly lift a dumbbell.
