Hi, I'm J.J. Virgin, celebrity nutrition and fitness expert of Jjvirgin.com, and I'm here today to show you ways to use a mini stepper. Now, it just so happens that I use a mini stepper with all of my clients and I have one myself that I love to travel with because they're great, they're portable, they fold in. You can take them anywhere which means no excuses for not exercising. My mantra is to burst to blast fat. The type of aerobic exercise I teach my clients to do is something called Interval Aerobic Training or High Intensity Interval Training, which means that you do 30 to 60 second all out bursts and then you lightly easily recover for about twice as long. So, 30 seconds hard, a minute easy and repeat to accumulate four to eight minutes of total bursting and there's no better way to do it then on a mini stepper. You can pay anywhere from $100 to $500 for a mini stepper. I'm going to tell you this is where you really get what you pay for. The one I'm using right here, indestructible. I even let my kids play on it and they couldn't break it. So, don't cheap out here, get a good one because you're going to be using a lot, right? So, let me now show you the right form when you're doing your bursting to blast fat. So, the important thing is notice I start and both knees are bent. So, I've got some tension on my thighs to begin with and it's like you have a book on your head. You're not going to move from the hips up, you're just driving down through your heels and you'll feel it right away, I'm talking right away in your thighs and in your gluts. Now, if you're thinking this is too easy I'd say, come over here and try it yourself. But, what you do next is you grab some dumbbells, so picture I have some in my hand and you're going to push up and curl, and you add that in. The nice thing is it also helps with your coordination and balance and if you don't use that, you lose that. So you do this as hard as you can, as fast as you can for 30 to 60 seconds and you can already hear that I'm getting a little bit out of breath. You want to be out of breath. You should not be able to carry on a conversation and do exercise. If you are, guess what, not exercising. And then, you're going to step off, walk around a little bit, recover and then get back on and do it again and again, you're going to accumulate four to eight minutes of total bursts in 30 to 60 second intervals and you should be out of breath like this.
