Hi, I'm Dr. Lisa Benest, and I'm a dermatologist in Los Angeles, California. Today, I'm going to talk to you about how to clean clogged pores. Clogged pores form for various reasons. They could be related to diet causing more inflammation in the body and the cells. They could also be hereditary. Some people are more prone to getting acne and clogged pores than others and they can occur due to hormones creating a stickiness of the cells along the pore lining and thus blocking the pore itself. So, there is various ways that you can clean clogged pores. The first way is to use a cleanser that has salicylic acid or glycolic acid and this helps lift off some of the superficial cells that may be blocking the pores. Other ways that we can use would be doing extractions in the doctor's office. We use a tool where we actually press right around the clogged pore and the blockage comes right out. Another method that we use would be facials so one can get facials every month or so and the person will use steam and extractions and help the pores stay clean. Finally one can clean up your diet and introduce more organic vegetables and fruits as well as lean proteins and cut out most of the refined packaged processed foods, the carbohydrates, the sugar such as the sodas even diet sodas and sports drinks and fruit juices and this will go a long way to help our body heal itself and keep our pores clean. Thank you very much for listening today. This is Dr. Lisa Benest, a dermatologist in Los Angeles, California and this is how we clean clogged pores.
