Hi, I'm Tara Pollak, physical therapist at Evolution Physical Therapy, and I am here to give you tips for massage techniques for the condition of Plantar Fasciitis. Plantar Fasciitis is an inflammation of the soft tissue, or the fascia, on the under surface of the foot. Usually, we know that we have Plantar Fasciitis because the first step out of bed in the morning is pretty painful. And it usually manifests itself as heel pain or can even be pain up into the arch of the Plantar Fascia. So Shante, for this technique, I want you to take two thumbs and find the tender point that's right along your heel. And what you want to do is apply firm pressure to it and give it a little bit of a massage. Once you find that tender point stop and just kind of rub it back and forth. There you go, good. So, it might be a little bit uncomfortable. You can also work your way all the way up into the arch of your foot if that's also where you have some discomfort. Good. Now, of course, if you have any increase in pain while you are doing this, I want you to stop and seek the advice of a skilled physical therapist, 'cause they know how to do these techniques for you.
