Cleaning a wooden chopping board is quite a process, as food and bacteria tend to soak into the wood material easily. Thoroughly wash and sanitize a wooden cutting board with help from a professional cook in this free video on kitchen tools.
Hello. I'm Sue Walker, and I'm going to show you how to clean a wood chopping board. You will need: a spatula, dish cloths, dry clean dish towels, liquid dish-washing soap, white vinegar, a jar, baking soda, and paper towels. Wooden chopping boards hold on to bacteria like glue, and need special cleaning to make sure it is clean and safe to use again. Using the spatula, scrape off any food particles that have dried on the cutting board. Fill the sink with warm, soapy water. Place the cutting board in the water, and quickly wash with a dish cloth. I say quickly because you don't want to leave the wood in water for too long. Take the board out of the water, and rinse with clean water. Now wipe it off with a paper towel. Mix 1/4 cup of white vinegar with one cup of water, and place in a jar. Pour this solution over the top of the wooden cutting board, and let sit for about five minutes. This solution will help sanitize the board and kill the bacteria. Rinse the board with water. Dry with a clean dish towel. And that is how to clean a wood chopping board.
