Making the color brown with paint is most traditionally done by mixing yellow, red and blue. Mix up a brown hue in acrylic paint with a demonstration from an award-winning artist in this free video on painting.
Hello, my name is Jacklyn Laflamme, and I'm a professional artist with JacklynLaflamme.com. In this clip, I'm going to show you how to make the color brown with paint. You will need canvas. You will need paint. You will need paintbrushes. You will need a paint palette. As you can see, I've been fiddling around with some different colors here. But basically, to mix the color brown in the traditional way, you would mix yellow, red, and blue. That's the very traditional way to do brown. So, let's try that. Let's take our palette and put a little bit of blue, a little bit of yellow, and a little bit of red, and mix that together. So, you can see right away you get the color brown. And that, as I said, is the most traditional way to get the color brown. Now, there's other ways to do it. You can obviously take some orange that's out of the tube, and you can mix it with some yellow and some purple, and you can get different shades of brown. So, when you're going to make your browns, just try to play around with a bunch of different colors and see how many different shades you can get. This is Jacklyn Laflamme, thank you for watching.
