Hi, I'm Gretchen Rivas with Relax! Massage Therapy in Wilmington, Carolina and today, we're going to talk about sensual massage techniques for the shoulders. The things we need for this are a table, oil and some space. Whenever you're working on somebody and you're trying to make it a sensual massage, one of the things you want to keep in mind is to use a, a nice oil. And you want to use one that smells good, it's not too heavy or greasy and doesn't make them feel like, "Oh". You want to make something nice and light and then you just apply it gently and smoothly. The main key behind sensual massage versus regular massage therapy is you're pressure is going to be a little lighter and it's going to be more intimate. You don't want it to be so deep that you're causing pain; but you also don't want it to be so light that you're causing them to be tickled. So, check in with them on the pressure and what feels good to them; often using a number scale can help, like on a one to ten, one is they can't feel it, ten is you're really hurting them. You want to fall somewhere in the four to five range for sensual massage. And then when you work on the shoulder, just do a nice gentle rubbing; maybe come up through here a little bit, know, because when you're working with somebody the trick is to not do anything too immediate; but more in a, you know, sensual teasing type of way. So, you want to do it nice and slow and around and close to body parts that you might want to touch later; but, you don't want to touch them now because that's part of the, you know, part of what you want to do. So, work that shoulder area gently, soothingly and smoothly. And that's how you do sensual shoulder massage.
