Hello, this is Conan Elliot and I'm the Director of Instruction here at Camas Meadows Golf Club in Camas, Washington. Today we're going to talk about how to carry a golf bag. It's a good question actually. First of all, we need a golf bag and preferably would have golf clubs in it. But how to carry one is very important. First of all, we want to make sure that our straps are adjusted to fit us so that the club lays just below the lower part of the back, so it actually doesn't put strain on your back. To carry one, we want to pick up the top, the top loop first and just set it on our right shoulder, as that. This is the way bags used to be carried when they had a single strap, put a lot of pressure on your shoulder, pulled you down to one side. Now we just reach around with our right hand, find the other loop, lay it over our left shoulder and put it on kind of like a jacket or a back pack. As you can see, so now the club lays just in the lower part of my back, evenly balanced across. My hands are free, my weight is distributed equally across me. The fatigue level goes way down when you have this type of bag. So, how to carry a golf bag, make sure it fits, make sure that the straps fit you, make sure it's a two piece or double strap backpack type. This is Conan Elliott, and that's how to carry a golf bag.
