Hi, I'm Stephen Taylor; Endurance Coach and Fitness Trainer. Today we're going to talk about how to wear cycling shorts. The materials you will need for this activity include a pair of cycling shorts. You may also want to have a skin lubricant such as Sportslick, Aquaphor or Bag Balm. The most important thing to remember when wearing cycling shorts is do not put anything between your skin and the cycling shorts. Specifically this means, don't wear any underpants under the cycling shorts. If you've never done this before, this may seem kind of weird; but it's the correct way to wear cycling shorts. You'll also find that it's much more comfortable to have no additional layers of sources of friction between your skin and the cycling shorts. If you do wear underpants underneath your cycling shorts, this is a sure foul paw in the cycling community. You will identify yourself as a beginner and someone that experienced cyclist will avoid. You may also want to use a skin lubricant such as Sportslick, Aquaphor or Bag Balm. Some of the sensation that feels like pressure while you're sitting on a bike seat even with bike shorts can be quite painful. Believe it or not a lot of this discomfort actually comes from friction between your body and the bike saddle. One thing that we reduce that friction is a lubricant substance. Simply that to your another regions, as we'll say, put the bike shorts on over that; again, with no under shorts on and have a good time riding.
