To unlock a miter saw, push down on the saw to unlock the head and loosen the knob on the table to make adjustments. Start using a miter saw with help from a custom furniture maker in this free video on woodworking tools.
Hi I'm Dave Trull with The Trull Gallery, a custom furniture shop in St. Petersburg, Florida and I'm going to show you how to unlock a miter saw. The first thing we want to do is unlock the head and this is common to all miter saws and the easiest way to do it is put a little pressure on the head, push it down a little and in this case there is a knob right here, pull that out and we've unlocked the head. If you have a sliding miter saw there is a lock on the slide. In my case it's this right here, we'll loosen that. We have now unlocked the slide. The next is to unlock your table so you can make adjustments there. Here again there is usually a knob in the front. In this case I can loosen that knob and when we get to our desired angle we can go ahead and lock that back down and the final adjustment is to lock the bevel and in this case and you are not going to see this on all saws but on some of your saws you can rotate that and we can now tilt our saw. Some saws will tilt one way, some will tilt both ways and in this case I have a stop right here. Now I can slide that stop back and I can now tilt to either side of square. When I want to come back to square I push that stop back out, come back, make sure we are touching and then go ahead and lock it back in place, give that an extra little twist there and real simply that's how to unlock a miter saw.
