My name is Penny Tokash; I'm an Enrolled Agent and I have a business in Jonesboro, Georgia, Tax Facts. I'd like to to talk to you today about how to start a tax preparation business. Right now it's really simple. All you need to do is to get yourself some software; it would help if you had some knowledge about taxes; but that's really not necessary. There's talk with the IRS to getting down to licensing all preparers. I think that's a great idea. Right now, you don't even need a license. You don't need anything except whatever your local community requires. That's not true in all states. Some states do have a regulation of taxes preparers. Most of them however do not. My Enrolled Agent credentials are issued from the IRS. We've sat for a; in order to be an Enrolled Agent, we've sat for a two-day exam and we're experts on the field of tax.
