"Hello, I'm Sherie Tengbergen here at the Education Network in Palm Beach County and we're here to learn about water color painting. In this clip, I'm going to show you how to paint grasses using a fan brush. And this is a very nice brush, it's got a lot of bristles on it and it's, the one that I prefer is nylon. And when you dip it into water, it, you can spread the bristles apart, and then you want to load your brush in a very particular way. I like to load my brush with some Yellow Ocher on one end, some Windsor Green in the middle and then some Burnt Sienna on the other tip. And when you do that, you get three different colors on your brush and then you can paint some really awesome grasses. What I like to do before I start is, I like to separate the bristles and make sure I've got nice control of my brush. Now there are several ways to paint grasses. To do grasses that are short, like the lawn's just been mowed, you just take your brush and go straight up from the bottom. And you see that you get a nice row of grasses. But let's say, you've got long grass growing in your lawn. If you take the side of your fan brush and push it up and flare it out, you can get those long grasses, and they're cool, and you can also put flowers on the end of those. That's another way you can do grasses with a fan brush. And the last thing is, you may want to show some little dots, just like there's little pieces of stubby grass growing on your line, lawn. And you do that, just by popping that brush up and down, very quickly. And by going back and loading your brush up again with different colors, you can add different looks to your grass. So that's the beauty of doing grass, using this awesome fan brush. This has been Sherie Tengbergen, thank you for watching."
