Hi I'm Chris Bryce from SuperService.com. Let's talk about how to connect an inkjet printer to your laptop. The first thing to keep in mind is that manufacturers such as Hewlett Packard and Epson tend to want you to install a software product before connecting the device to your laptop. So the first thing to look at is your quick start guide that will come with your printer. It will tell you whether or not to connect the device first, the printer, or to connect the software by putting the CD or DVD in the drive of your laptop first. Once you've determined that, we'll look at the actual connection. If you're software based, for the first step, then what you're going to want to do, is you're going to want to install the software using the CD provided. At some point during the installation it will tell you to then connect your inkjet printer. You'll take your USB cable and plug it into the laptop at that time. Now if it's the other way around and your manufacturer suggests that you install the device or the printer first, then what you're going to want to do is you're going to want to connect that USB device, and then Windows, or your operating system will come up and tell you that they found a device to install. At that point you'll then insert your CD and install the software for your printer. It's really that simple, then your printer's installed.
