"Hi, I'm doctor Savage. You're wondering how serious is toxic shock syndrome? To state it plainly, it is a life threatening condition. This actually started, this actually came about in the early '80s when a number of women dies from toxic shock syndrome secondary to tampon use. What happened is their, they would leave tampons in too long or there's a certain type of tampon that predisposed them to getting a bacterial infection which causes this. And yes, it absolutely it is a serious condition. If there is any question that you might have that absolutely seek medical attention immediately.
