I'm Virginia Intelisano, Mental Health Counselor, Registered Intern with the State of Florida and I'm here to talk to you today about depression after your pregnancy. It's called perinatal depression and it happens then one year after you deliver your baby. Some of the symptoms include tiredness, mood swings and dramatic losses of weight. These are very characteristic of depression. People sometimes get confused between the two. But if you're feeling these symptoms and you feel like you need to contact your doctor, please do so. Depression can be cause by a major change life event or hormonal changes. Like I said, please be sure to contact your doctor or mental health professional.
