Hi I'm Gretchen Rivas with Relax to the Max Massage Therapy and today we are going to talk about how to relieve low back pain. A lot of times with people with low back pain it may come from sitting in the car too long or they turned and twisted and tried to pick something up and tweaked their back so what you want to do is make sure that they have been checked by a doctor and they don't have any disc problems going on that you could cause harm to when you are working on that low back. But if nothing is going on but muscular aches and pains you can get in there and work on that quite a bit. What you want to do is get in there on that sacrum area down here at the end of the spine at the lower back and massage that, that often feels really good and then you can work around the ASIS and the PSIS which is the, we won't go into what that is because that is too technical but just say the top of the hip and we will come through on the sides here. So a lot of times there is a deep muscle in the low back called the quadratus lumborum that really tweaks people when they have low back pain and if you can come in there like this and get in there on that QL muscle you can get a lot of relief in that area and you want to do that on both sides and you can also come down off of these muscles here and work this area in here a little bit and coming off the sides like this often feels really good also so you want to work in here and a little bit up through here too. Just kind of follow that up because the back is all connected. Make sure you don't rub on the spine itself you want to rub on the muscles next to it and work that area through there on that low back and that should give quite a bit of relief for low back pain.
