Hi I'm Gretchen Rivas with Relax to the Max Massage Therapy and today we are going to talk about how to massage the thigh. When you are working on the thigh muscle you have to remember there is a lot of muscle fibers in here, a lot of muscles that make up the thigh so you want to get some oil on there and if they have a lot of body hair you may need to use a little more than if somebody doesn't have much body hair at all, smooth it on and when you are working on the thigh always remember you want to work towards the direction of the heart and you can go usually on most people you can go pretty deep on the thigh because the hamstrings are usually really tight on a lot of people especially if they work out or the run or even if they sit a lot at the computer everything can get really tight so it can use a lot of work. You want to get in there and do some cross fiber friction and this feels really good and helps to loosen up a lot of muscles in the thigh. You want to follow all the way up to the hamstring attachments, right where they attach at the bottom of the gluteal muscles. Then come along the IT Band up the side of the legs, that is usually really tight up through here too and massage that. That feels really good on people, working any adhesions they might have in there, do a little bit more cross fiber and then some stroking and kneading and of course you will do this as long as you need to to make the person feel better. That's how you massage the thigh.
