"Hi, I'm Amy McCauley, and we're going to discuss why cardiovascular fitness programs are important. Overall benefits: it increases your stamina, it helps you feel better, it reduces your stress level, it lowers your blood pressure, it reduces your total cholesterol, it helps build bone strength and muscular strength, so that if you are an older person and you're experiencing osteoporosis it helps build the bone mass which is very very important. The more muscle you have on your body through the cardiovascular impact, the more calories you're burning throughout the day. It increases heart function and the heart's ability to pump more blood. It decreases your resting heart rate. It increases aerobic work capacity. There are so many things that cardiovascular activities can do for you, and just overall making you feel good and taking out that stress that we have from everyday activities, and helps increase those happy endorphins. And that is what cardiovascular fitness does for people."
