"Hi, I'm Amy McCauley, I'm going to discuss how much to exercise per day. For the average person, you want to exercise three to four days a week. And on average you don't want to do any more than an hour. You should be able to get everything that you need to get done within an hour. Try to focus on either body parts where you're doing chest, shoulders, tris one day, the next day you're doing back and bis, and the following day you're doing lower body. So that you're doing three days--say Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, you're taking Thursday off, and you repeat the cycle over again. So just keep doing those three days. You also have the opportunity if you want to, to do an upper body day and a lower body day. Just make sure that you are giving yourself enough rest time in between for the muscles to repair themselves. For athletes, we're probably going to do a little bit more--between five and six days a week, but again you want to keep it limited to an hour or an hour and a half of exercise, and no more than that. If you do more than that you could go into an over-training zone, which is too much for your body to take in. So make sure that you're giving yourself enough dietary intake, and you're keeping yourself well hydrated. And that's how much exercise you need per day."
