Hi I'm James with JNC Home Repair and today I am going to show you how to repair a shower control. The biggest problem with a shower control usually is the knob will just spin freely and the actual water won't turn off or on. It is usually just a basic simple process of removing the knob and just replacing it and that usually will fix your problem. Usually the shower valve that is coming out of the wall has some little threads on it that actually fit inside the handle and what happens is on the inside of the handle the little teeth get stripped out and it just spins freely and it won't turn the water off and on so it is a real simple process to replace. All you have got to do is just remove this little center cap in the middle of the shower knob, depending on what kind of knob you have. The one we are working in today we are just going to remove the little center cap. All you will need is a flat head screwdriver to remove the little center cap and then you'll need a Philip's Head screwdriver to actually remove the Philip's Head screw that is actually holding the knob on to the valve. It is a real simple process and it will eliminate your problem.
