Hi, I'm James with JNC Home Repair. Today I'm going to show you how to apply mud to an inside corner. What we have here is a smaller version of a inside corner. Could be two walls together or it actually could be a wall and a ceiling. Either way, it's done the same way. First thing you want to do is you want to apply a thin coat of joint compound to both sides. And actually work some mud down into that seam. You want to go ahead and fill that seam up full of mud so it doesn't dry and crack up later. After you've applied your thin skin coat of mud here, you want to apply, you want to cut your piece of tape and fit it in this corner here. The tape for this application you actually want to use paper tape. You don't want to use the mesh tape. You want to use the paper tape because after you've got your piece of tape cut you're going to actually fold that piece of tape in half. Not longways, but actually inwards. You'll, you'll actually see a crease going down the middle of the piece of tape and that's what you're going to fold it at and it's going to make a little L and it's going to fit right inside your corner. OK? Once you've applied your tape to your corner you're going to go ahead and apply another skin coat of mud and then after that dries, then you're going to come, come in and apply a third coat. It takes three steps to do this properly.
