"Mesothelioma is a relatively uncommon cancer. In the United States, currently, there are approximately 2,200 cases. The incidence due to increased control of asbestos exposure is likely going to decline with time, in contrast to elsewhere in the world. Mesothelioma was even more uncommon prior to 1960, just because the primary risk factor with this is exposure to asbestos. And asbestos is a relatively modern mineral that we use for insulation."
