"How many people do you know like this, wearing a permanent turtle neck? When we have improper posture and carry all our tension up in the shoulders, This can lead to other injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome, or tendinitis. What we need to do learn to do is to relax our shoulders and open our shoulders and chest. A great way to do that is the reverse prayer posture. So, what we're doing is rolling the shoulders back to open our heart. Our fingertips and palms come together behind and you make the prayers hands behind your back, opening up your chest, opening up your shoulders. Now you may not be able to reach your hands, so a great way to start is just grabbing on to your wrists. Notice you have a tendency to lift up again, so roll the shoulders down and back. And you could also reach on to your elbows. So if you can't do this right away don't worry about it. Just practice gradually. Anything you can do to open up your heart and open up your chest, whether it be the full reverse prayer or just holding on to your wrists, will help to open your heart, open your chest, relieve tension in your shoulders, get your shoulders down where they belong and help you from getting repetitive stress injury or tennis elbow. I'm Cindy Mastry, namaste."
