It is easier to cut the wedding cake in one-square-inch cubes. Cut a three-tier, whimsical wedding cake with tips from a professional cake designer in this free video on weddings.
Hi, my name's Melissa Maggiore with Alessi Bakeries in Tampa, Florida. I'm just going to be giving you some helpful tips on how to actually cut into your wedding cake on your wedding day. You don't really want to cut into the whole tier of the wedding cake. You don't want to call all the way down and take out a huge slice. Basically all you're going to be doing is, you're going to be cutting just about an inch off of the edge of the cake, and then you're just going to be cutting down about an inch, and then go over about another inch and a half, so that way you just half like a one by one inch cube, and then you're just going to take your cake knife and you're actually going to just push it right in and remove it from the actual tier of the wedding cake. Really, basically what this symbolizes is just to feed each other, you're going to each take your turn at feeding each other. You want a small amount of cake, just for that first bite, so you can remember the first bite of your wedding cake as a married couple. Your caterers will then take the cake to the back, disassemble the whole thing, and then they will actually cut and serve you a traditional slice of wedding cake, plus serve all of your guests.
